PSE&G crews work on restoring power as flames from a ruptured gas main shoot high into the air at the corner of Rt. 601 and Skilman Rd. this evening. According to officials and witnesses on the scene, a bolt of lightning from a strong thunderstorm hit the utility pole at the corner bringing down a power line. The electricity from the downed line arced through the ground to the gas pipe and ignited it. Officials say even after the gas it turned off the fire could still burn for hours. In this photo the downed wire is seen running vertically through the center of the frame. 8/21/09 Photo by Tony Kurdzuk
