The devastating impact of the collapse of the Twin Towers was not limited to New York City alone. Thousands of the people running for their lives escaped west to New Jersey. In Jersey City, the neighborhood just across the Hudson River from lower Manhattan, residents had a front row seat to the horrific view of the unimaginable. Here, they came to see, help and heal, from a distance.
