Eight-year-old Keira Romanello, of East Rutherford, shows a poster she made for a school project of her trip to Washington D.C. for a conference on psoriasis. She made the poster after a girl at her school teased her about the condition that she suffers from, an auto-immune disorder that causes lesions on her skin due to cells reproducing too rapidly. After the project, the same girl made up with her. Now, she just has to sway the McKenzie School administration to allow her to keep her earrings in during gym class, an effort her family is convinced will be more about education, less about school rules.
